Rebecca Solnit, writer, historian, and activist, is the author of numerous books about environment, landscape, community, art, politics, hope, and memory. Her many works include Unfathomable City: A New Orleans Atlas; A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities That Arise in Disaster; Infinite City: A San Francisco Atlas; A Book of Migrations; and her newest work, The Faraway Nearby. She works with the group 350.org on climate issues and regularly contributes to Harper’s and TomDispatch.com. Solnit received a Lannan Literary Award for Nonfiction in 2003.
