Tasha Ostrander is a Santa Fe-based photographer and multimedia artist. Her work focuses on the themes of life and death as expressed through the cycles of the natural world. She is fascinated by the symbolism of specimens preserved under glass, and many of her pieces feature representations of animals, and occasionally even live ones. One such piece, entitled Quinter’s Thought Trap included steel cases containing live butterflies.
Ostrander was born in New York, and received her BFA at the University of New Mexico. She has had solo exhibitions of her work at Galerie Nine in Amsterdam, Linda Durham Contemporary Art in Santa Fe, and the I-20 Gallery in New York, among others. Her work has also been part of many group exhibitions including the Dallas Art Fair, SITE Santa Fe, and the Grinnell College Art Gallery.
