Alan Dugan (1923 - 2003) was an American poet. He published his first book Poems in 1961, which won the Yale Younger Poets Prize, the National Book Award, and the Pulitzer Prize. During his more than 40 years of writing poetry, he created brief, clear, spare, and fearless poems about war, justice, work, sex, and love, which have been collected in Poems Seven: New and Complete Poetry. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, starting in 1969. He lived in Truro, Massachusetts, with his wife, the artist Judith Shahn, daughter of the well-known painter, Ben Shahn.
