Daniel Alarcón is the author of the story collection War by Candlelight, a finalist for the 2005 PEN-Hemingway Award, and the novels Lost City Radio, winner of the 2009 International Literature Prize given by the House of World Culture in Berlin; At Night We Walk in Circles; and The King Is Always Above the People. In 2012 he co-founded the Spanish-language podcast Radio Ambulante, a mix of investigative journalism, interviews, and storytelling. His honors include a Whiting Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Maria Moors Cabot prize. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow, he teaches at the Columbia University School of Journalism.
