Henry A. Giroux

Henry A. Giroux is an educator, author and public intellectual. He has written more than 60 books, among them and most recently, Neoliberalism’s War on Higher Education, The Violence of Organized Forgetting: Thinking Beyond America’s Disimagination Machine, Zombie Politics in the Age of Casino Capitalism (2nd edition), and Dangerous Thinking in the Age of the New Authoritarianism. He has dedicated his life to teaching and is the recipient of innumerable awards and honors. He is a member of Truthout’s Board of Directors and a regular contributor to the nonprofit, independent, online news organization.
Giroux holds the McMaster University Chair for Scholarship in the Public Interest and is the Paulo Freire Distinguished Scholar in Critical Pedagogy at Canada’s McMaster University, English and Cultural Studies Department. He is also a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Ryerson University in Canada.
In 2012, the Toronto Star named him one of the “12 Canadians changing the way we think.”
