Jamel Brinkley

Jamel Brinkley is a writer from New York City. He is the author of A Lucky Man: Stories, a finalist for the National Book Award in Fiction, the John Leonard Prize, the PEN/Bingham Prize, and the Story Prize, and winner of the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence. His work has been selected twice, in 2018 and 2019, for The Best American Short Stories.

A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he is also a 2018-2020 Wallace Stegner Fellow in Fiction at Stanford University.
