Javier Zamora was born in El Salvador and migrated to the US when he was nine. He is the author of the poetry collection Unaccompanied (Copper Canyon Press, 2017), and the memoir Solito (Hogarth, 2022), a New York Times bestseller that retells his nine-week odyssey across Guatemala, Mexico, and eventually through the Sonoran Desert. A 2016-2018 Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University and a 2018-2019 Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard University, he holds fellowships from CantoMundo, Colgate University, MacDowell, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation, and Yaddo.
