Juliet Schor

Juliet Schor is a professor of sociology at Boston College and has a PhD in economics. She taught for 17 years at Harvard University, as part of the Department of Economics and the Committee on Degrees in Women’s Studies. Her research, writing, and teaching focus on the economy, environmental sustainability, the relationship between work and family, women’s issues, wealth inequality, and consumerism. She cofounded the Center for a New American Dream (now known as New Dream), a national sustainability organization.

Schor is the author of, among other books, Sustainable Lifestyles and the Quest for Plenitude: Case Studies of the New Economy (2014), True Wealth: How and Why Millions of Americans are Creating a Time-Rich, Ecologically Light, Small-Scale, High-Satisfaction Economy (2011), and Plenitude: The New Economics of True Wealth (2010).
