Laurel Reuter

Laurel Reuter was was born and raised on the Spirit Lake Dakota Reservation in North Dakota and was the Founding Director and Chief Curator of the North Dakota Museum of Art for 50 years until her retirement in 2022. She curated countless exhibitions ranging from “Light and Shadow: Japanese Artists in Space” (1992), to “The Disappeared” (2005), which was named one of Newsday's top ten art events of 2007. The North Dakota Museum of Art Board of Trustees and the North Dakota Museum of Art Foundation, with the support of Reuter, established the Laurel Reuter Director’s Fund, an investment fund dedicated to carrying out her vision and dedication to contemporary art on the Plains and Native American initiatives.
