Michael Silverblatt, described as “the guy authors go to when they want a serious literary conversation about their work,” was the host of KCRW’s Bookworm (1989-2022), a nationally syndicated radio program showcasing writers of fiction and poetry. Describing his interviews as “conversations,” Silverblatt hosted hundreds of celebrated writers, including David Foster Wallace, Salman Rushdie, Gore Vidal, Kazuo Ishiguro, Toni Morrison, and Susan Sontag. Michael died in February 2026 at age 73.
