Mohammed El-Kurd is a poet, writer, journalist, and organizer from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, Palestine. He co-founded the global #SaveSheikhJarrah campaign, which amplified the 2021 Unity Uprising, galvanizing people from Gaza, Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Palestinian diaspora against the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homes. For their organizing and educational work, Mohammed and his twin sister Muna El-Kurd were named to the 2021 TIME100 list. Mohammed is the first Palestine correspondent for U.S. magazine The Nation, where his reporting has been long-listed for the 2022 One World Media Print Award. The Arab American Civic Council named him a recipient of the 2022 Truth in Media Award. His debut poetry collection, Rifqa (Haymarket Books), has been shortlisted for the 2022 Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection from the Forward Prizes for Poetry.
