Rick Bass is the author of many books of fiction and nonfiction. He has received O. Henry Awards, the Story Prize, numerous Pushcart Prizes, awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, and many other honors. His memoir Why I Came West, was a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award, and his novel Nashville Chrome was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Bass lives in Montana’s Yaak Valley, where he is a founding board member of the Yaak Valley Forest Council.
