Robert Goodnough (1917–2010) was an American abstract expressionist painter and sculptor who played a key role in the New York School. Goodnough’s works are characterized by their dynamic interplay of geometric and organic forms, often rendered in bold, vibrant colors. Throughout his career, he exhibited extensively, with significant shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Goodnough received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1965, underscoring his importance in the postwar art movement. His works are included in the collections of major institutions, such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
