Stanley Kunitz

Stanley Kunitz (1905-2006) was an American poet who twice served as the United States Poet Laureate, in 1974 and again in 2000. His numerous books include The Collected Poems of Stanley Kunitz; Passing Through: The Later Poems, New and Selected, which won the National Book Award; Next to Last Things: New Poems and Essays; and The Testing Tree.

Honors and awards include a Pulitzer Prize, the National Medal of Arts, and the Bollingen Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Poetry. Mr. Kunitz was a founder of the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and Poets House in New York City.
