Tony O’Brien is an American photographer and educator whose documentary work captures the complexities of human experience in conflict zones and underserved communities. O’Brien’s projects have taken him to Afghanistan, where he documented the daily lives of its people during wartime, as well as to other regions of political and social unrest. His work has been published in The New York Times and National Geographic and exhibited at institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. O’Brien’s empathetic approach to storytelling has earned him critical acclaim and numerous awards, including grants from the Alicia Patterson Foundation.
