Chuck Close Photographs Exhibition

Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, Seattle, WA

2016

The Henry Art Gallery received funding in support of its presentation of the exhibition Chuck Close Photographs, which was on view from November 5, 2016, to April 2, 2017. The Henry’s presentation of the show (which was originally created by Terrie Sultan at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York) was augmented by the loan of 11 additional substantial works by Close, including paintings, photographs, and mixed-media work. The Henry wrote of the exhibition, “Chuck Close Photographs presents the full range of the artist’s exploration of photography—from early black and white maquettes for his paintings to monumental composite Polaroids and intimately-scaled Daguerreotypes.” Chuck Close was born in 1940 and is a graduate of the University of Washington.
