Radius Books received support for the publication of its special edition One. This collector’s book is an experimental look at the power of combining text and image, attempting to reconcile the practice and aesthetic of “less is more.” Published in November 2016, the book pairs eight artists with eight writers: Marco Breuer, David Campany, Teju Cole, Thomas Joshua Cooper, Christie Davis, John D’Agata, Michael Fried, John Gossage, Darius Himes, Leah Ollman, Trevor Paglen, Alison Rossiter, Victoria Sambunaris, Laura Steward, Rebecca Norris Webb, and James Welling. Each photographic image was printed on Hahnemühle paper, signed by the artist, and hand-tipped into the book. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to Radius’s Donation Program. In 2016 Radius shipped more than 8,000 books to 360 rural libraries and schools nationwide, in all 50 states.
