Indian Law Resource Center
The Indian Law Resource Center is a non-profit law and advocacy organization established and directed by American Indians. It provides legal assistance to Indian and Alaska Native nations working to protect their land, resources, human rights, environment, and cultural integrity.
The principal goal of the Center is the preservation and security of Indian and other Native nations and tribes. The organization also helps indigenous leaders and Indian communities to develop the capacity to advocate for and protect their own interests.
Founded in 1978, the Center provides assistance to tribes and other indigenous peoples in the United States and in Central and South America.
The Center has an international board of directors, and is a non-governmental organization in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The Center is funded entirely by grants and contributions from Indian nations, foundations and individuals. Indian Law Resource Center accepts no governmental support.
